Having grown up in New England, when the ground was white it always meant snow. When I visited White Sands the gypsum dunes looked like endless snow fields. In reality the temperature was 90° and the yucca plants were in bloom. I became fascinated with the little yucca in the center of this image. Walking in these endless dunes it's easy to feel lost, but here was this little plant and it seemed to be saying this is the way…
